yes, only certain kinds of .mp4 files are "web safe / playable".

they need to typically (to play on just about all platforms/browsers/mobile) be, minimally:

h.264 video
aac audio

and the pixel format has some additional restrictions, too.

there's even more minor requirements -- but if a video creation path can do the first two w/ a .mp4 suffix/container, *generally* one should be pretty likely to have it work.

the .mp4 files i saw in that item clearly weren't h.264 video tracks under the hood -- so was able to spot that issue immediately!
